You Are Doing Way Too Many Reps When Training Your Abs/Core
I have to admit that I am guilty of this. I think at some point we all made this mistake.
When I was in Martial Arts, every workout would start with 100 crunches, and in the gym, every lifting session was finished with even more crunches.
You see this all the time and I don’t know why people do it. I have NO idea why people think they have to do high reps for better abs. Maybe they watched too many Rocky movies, maybe they like that tight feeling after doing a set of sit ups to failure. I don’t know why people do so many reps, but the bottom line is there is no need. If you are doing 100 sit ups that is about 90 too many.
Stop doing so many reps and chasing after “The Ab Burn” and focus on quality not quantity.
Ab Fix : Focus on improving the intensity of your reps, not the duration of your reps. 10 Reps with maximal squeezing and focus is better than 100 half ass reps. To improve strength you can even train abs/core in the 3-5 rep range which a lot of athletes neglect to do.
